2025–30 Strategic Plan Completed

As we hold the significant responsibility of caring for our seed bank now and into the future, we are clear about what it takes to steward a living collection well. Over the arc of Seed Savers Exchange’s history, much of our collection was gathered within a relatively short period of time—an extraordinary act of preservation made possible by dedicated seed savers responding to urgency.

Our work today is shaped by that legacy. The 2025–30 Strategic Plan focuses on strengthening the care of what we hold: regenerating varieties that have not yet been grown out, refreshing seed supplies, and adding the characterization data needed to ensure seeds are viable, useful, and accessible to today’s gardeners, farmers, and researchers.

This plan reflects a deliberate shift from rapid collection growth to long-term stewardship and prioritizes regeneration, documentation, and access so that the collection can continue to serve both present and future generations. We are aligning our resources, systems, and practices to meet this responsibility with care and intention.
