Item Details

(Rucola selvatica) (aka Wild Rocket) A wild variety, smaller and slower to bolt than most cultivated sorts, with tasty and more deeply serrated leaves. 45 days.

  • 45 days
  • Organic
  • Tasty, small, serrated leaves
  • Slow to bolt
  • Wild variety

This variety works for:

  • Fresh eating

  • The nutty and peppery taste of arugula is strong for a leafy green and provides a nice contrast to lettuce in a salad.

Larger and older leaves should be warmed and even lightly wilted for the best flavor. You can sprinkle them on pizzas fresh from the oven or toss them with pasta and roasted tomatoes.

Try replacing basil with arugula in your favorite pesto recipe!

Growing Instructions

Instructions - Sow seeds outdoors as soon as soil can be worked and danger of hard frost has passed. For a continuous supply of arugula, sow every three weeks throughout the summer. Best grown in cooler weather. Plant in full sun or partial shade.

  • Direct Seed: 1" Apart
  • Seed Depth: 1/4"
  • Germination: 5-7 Days

Disappointing

by

I bought this variety of arugula because it was the only one available. I planted it in one of my hydroponic gardens (aerogarden)and was extremely dissatisfied. The leaves were way too small to be very useful and it bolted almost immediately. I gave it another try in a different aerogarden and got similar results. Now that it's spring, I'm going to plant some arugula outdoors but I'm not willing to take a chance on this stuff again.

Seed Savers Response: I’m sorry to hear this variety didn’t do well in your aerogarden. Please reach out to our customer service team for variety and planting suggestions and tips.
