Wear rubber gloves when processing hot peppers and do not touch your eyes. If you are sensitive to the heat, make sure to wear a mask over your mouth and nose and protect your eyes.

Try adding this pepper to salsa recipes or pepper jellies.

You can also try making your own hot sauce with these peppers. Sauté them with olive oil, garlic, onion and salt, and after about 4 minutes add 2 cups of water. Heat the mixture for 20 minutes and then allow it to cool to room temperature before pureeing it in a food processor and adding vinegar.

Compact, beatiful plant with assortment of color.

by

Aurora definitely is not at the top of my list for flavor, but it is highly ornamental. The pods display a range of pretty colors on a productive, compact plant. These also have a little bit of heat to them, being on average about four times hotter than a stronger jalapeno. I haven't grown them in a few years, but am back to trying them again for pickling and to let others try them. If I remember correctly, the blossoms are purple.

Nice ornamental

Pretty, compact plants with purple flowers and colorful fruit which has some heat but is otherwise unremarkable in flavor. Grow as an ornamental.

Thumbs up

This was my first time ordering from Seed Savers and I ordered a variety of seeds. The Aurora peppers did beautifully and I even uprooted a few plants and placed in pots to give to the neighbors.

We love these little peppers!

I know some folks say they’re mostly ornamental without much flavor but I don’t agree. They had a delicate, sort of fruity flavor balanced with a nice kick of heat. They were also useful dried.
They also grew quite wonderfully in my 9a garden that is a bit marginal for getting enough hot days for peppers.
